Okay, people seem to blame others for what they don't have financially and keep on blaming everyone else except themselves for spending too much money. Yes, I realize we all have our
realities financially and you may have a hard time saving any cash at all, and I understand that.
But lets get down to the basics here guys.
If all you can do is save 2% of what you make every pay, keep on doing that.
Lets say you make 500 dollars a week and save 2% of that amount. That's 10 dollars a week.
And that's 520 dollars for the whole year. That's actually not bad. And just put that money in
cash in the bank.
Okay, lets say you're single and you have a car and keep spending massive amounts of your cash.
You want to save cash? sell the car and move closer to work. Take the bus and you'll save cash right there. I know, you'll say, I can't do that! Too bad, do it!
What will happen if you don't sell that car? You'll keep on spending a lot of your cash and have nothing.
Think about other expenses as well. Don't go to the highest priced supermarket. I live in Canada
and I go to what's called "No Frills" which is a supermarket that's franchised. They have prices less than Whole Foods in the US or Metro here in Canada does.
Think about the food you buy. If you eat steaks, and it's costing you a fortune, look for sales or buy
Lean beef roasts on sale. Buy raw veggies and whole grain cereals and bread. Eggs and milk.
If you buy beer, buy the cheaper brands. Beer is beer guys. I drink lower priced beer.
This may seem all ludicrous, but it's important, or else you'll have no cash and no future.
And here's another thing. If you workout at a club, workout at home. Save cash there too.
You'll save cash on club rates and you'll be healthier and save cash on health insurance, especially
if you live in the US. Being healthier will help you as you get into your 50's and up.
Here's the last thing, pay off your credit card debt If you have that debt. And if you own a house, sell it. Stop spending all your cash. I made this example at 500 a week to make a point. You make 500 a week and you own a house? Good luck with that.
Get rid of all these expenses that are literally siphoning your money.
And please don't say if I won the lottery or I get that inheritance I'll be good. Yeah, right.
If you can't handle 500 a week, there is no way you'll be able to handle thousands a week.
Chances are you'll spend more period.
Yeah, I'm being a jerk here but I'm telling you what you need to do. Yeah, you can still entertain
and go out, but don't overspend.
In my next article I'll talk about the importance of having a cash flush savings account.
