Money Safety--How To Save Cash Buying Everyday Items

I was thinking the other day about how I spend cash when I use the services of my local rapid transit, or the city bus service as it's known. For the last year I've been using strictly coins and using up a lot of quarters and full dollar and 2 dollar coins in the process which can be used as petty cash for laundry, small food items and coffee buys and goods for the house.

I've ended up using a lot of that coin just for the bus when I go to work, when I could have been saving cash by buying bus tickets. And I've been paying the full whack for bus rides as well. Paying cash I pay 2.75 a trip. By buying tickets I pay 1.90. I was figuring it out over each weekend what I spend on taking buses and what I would save over a year.

I would literally save about 153.00 bucks. Doesn't seem like a lot, but if your income is limited at the moment you should save cash and think about each purchase and how much it's really costing you. I don't take the bus enough to make buying a monthly pass worth it, so this is at least saving me money over each month for petty cash purposes, and over the course of a year saving me money as well.

Think about all your purchases and what it's really costing you, and how you might save cash and come out ahead. To me that's better than putting your cash in a bloody mutual fund or stock and trying to make money on a pipe dream. If you have any comments just email me or put them on this blog and tell me about how you save cash.

Even if you make 100's of thousands a year, you need to think about where your cash is going and how to save some money on your purchases. You'll thank me for it.

Much success in keeping your money safe.

Mark
